Repurposing Content: Blogs & Podcasts.

Writer's picture: Liz MaguireLiz Maguire

What's the most expensive part of your marketing strategy? Time! The time you spend creating content and executing the steps to see it return an investment would make your eyes water if you logged it all. But worry not there's a way to make your time work, well, over-time and that's by repurposing content. In this blog post we'll look at how you can repurpose and retrofit existing content like blogs or podcasts to be used on new (or different) channels.

You don't have to keep re-creating the wheel every time you sit down to create content but with "good" content you can re-design the same information a handful of ways. This content can work for your business not just organically on social media but as paid ads or even content for your newsletter, or email. Just remember that your audience is not the same on all platforms. This means that each time you present something on one platform don't assume that it has already been seen on another. Don't be afraid to share something because someone has already seen it -- you are the only one that sees 100% of your content!

Blogs & Podcasts.

Blogging for your business is a step in the right direction! A blog post can live in your brand's website for 'eternity' but it will eventually be pushed to the bottom of the stack when you keep updating with 'new' information or posts. One way to see the time you invested once to write the piece multiply? Take popular posts or content and reformat them for other channels. You can turn those posts into infographics or video content that can then be shared across platforms.

If you're embracing video for your business consider summarizing key facts and figures from your blog content into short, engaging videos. You don't always have to be talking to camera! With stock footage and nice graphics, you can record a voice over and find your blogs take on new life as video content. Platforms like YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok are designed to share these videos.

You can also use those platforms to turn audio or visual content from podcasts—like a catchy hook or a dynamic part of a conversation—into engaging social media posts. Podcasting is a fantastic way to build authority in your niche and grow trust with your audience. You can look to your blogs for topics to record for your podcast to help keep a consistency with your content as well as help start the script with material you've already researched and published. Bringing guests onto your podcast opens the door to new audiences. Your guest may share your podcast on their social media, helping you reach their followers and grow your audience. This approach not only leverages audio or video clips from your podcast but can also inspire new blog post ideas and expand your content reach. Ideas creating ideas!

Summary:

Don't be afraid to use what you've created, again! Your content marketing doesn't always expire. Consider turning key facts from blog posts into infographics or even video content that can be used on social media or in your email marketing. Editing clips of a podcast for use on social media can help attract new audiences and establish you or your business as one to trust in a certain niche.
